Roof-deck spray foam on an Oregon home.
Residential Roof: The Project
The Icynene Spray Foam Insulation system is the most suitable form of insulation for your roof, attic or loft space in both new and existing build homes.
This Hood River home owner was looking to reduce their energy bills. The easy solution was to apply a 5 and a half inch layer of closed cell spray foam insulation to the exterior of the roof.
How It Was Done
This approach meant there was minimal disruption to the interior of the house. The client is left with an unaffected roof, and a highly energy efficient house.
Heat can easily be lost through rafters, walls, and floors of the attic if not properly insulated. Spray foam insulation minimizes this heat loss, resulting in a home that is air tight; warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.
A quarter of heat in the home is lost through the roof. That is a huge amount, especially when it comes chilly Oregon winters. We pour endless dollars into keeping our homes cosy and warm, just to lose 25%?
Spray foam drastically reduces this heat loss, as it not only adds an insulation barrier, it also fills in any gaps that allow air flow leakage. This means temperature control in the house is much easier, and cheaper too.
